The CAPTAIN Mission As a principal advocate for the changing needs of youth and families in Saratoga County, CAPTAIN's Mission is to provide services necessary to address those needs through social, educational and prevention programs which encourage personal and social development in teens and families.

In 1977, CAPTAIN (Community Action for Parents, Teens and Interested Neighbors) was founded by a group of dedicated neighbors, committed to collectively deal with community needs. They especially related to teens and the struggles of "growing up" and had a guiding strategy: to involve teens as a part of the solution and to collaborate with school churches, local governments and businesses to weave together services that can change lives. The strong belief in the volunteer-based program still carries through to today, where over 300 community volunteers- young and old- can carry out the myriad of services offered locally... and at no cost to those who need them the most.
